Erin Abbey Named Assistant AD for Compliance
Erin Abbey has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at the University of South Carolina, Gamecock Athletics Director Ray Tanner announced Thursday.
In this role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Compliance Services as well as providing rules education and interpretations to coaches, student-athletes, and staff. She currently serves as the compliance liaison for baseball, women’s basketball, and football while also assisting other sport programs.
Abbey comes to South Carolina from the University of Notre Dame, where she most recently served as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. Abbey was responsible for multiple aspects of the compliance office operations and served as a sport administrator for the women’s rowing and cheerleading programs.
Prior to her role at Notre Dame, Abbey served in compliance roles at the University of Virginia, University of Oklahoma, and the University of Texas at Austin.
Abbey is a 2003 graduate of Huntington University, where she was a member of the Women’s Soccer and Women’s Track & Field programs, earning All-America honors in track and field. She received her master’s degree from Ball State University in 2007 and a juris doctorate degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2010.
