Roussin-Bouchard and Pelaez Named Golfweek First Team All-Americans

COLUMBIA, S.C.  –  The University of South Carolina women’s golf team sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard and senior Ana Pelaez added more accolades for their strong seasons as both were named Golfweek First Team All-Americans, Golfweek officials announced on Thursday.

Roussin-Bouchard shattered a number of Carolina golf records on her way to winning the 2021 SEC Player of the Year award, including four tournament wins in the season and the lowest single season scoring average in program history at 70.66. Her fourth tournament win, the 2021 SEC Championship, saw her break the SEC Championship record with a 17-under (199), also the lowest 54-hole score in South Carolina history. All four of Roussin-Bouchard’s wins this season account for the four lowest 54-hole score in program history. The sophomore also earned WGCA First Team All-America honors last month, giving her back-to-back years with both WGCA and Golfweek First Team All-America distinction.

Pelaez wrapped up her Carolina career in spectacular fashion, earning three top-three finishes, including back-to-back runner-up finishes heading into the postseason. The senior finished her season with a 71.45 scoring average, the fourth lowest season in team history, and her career 73.55 average ranks third in program history. In addition to her All-SEC First Team honors, this marks the first time Pelaez has earned First Team All-America honors, with her previous honors in 2017 and 2020 garnering honorable mention distinction. Pelaez joins Lois Kaye Go, Katelyn Dambaugh and Kristy McPherson as the only Gamecocks to earn All-America honors in three different seasons.

“I’m so happy and proud of Ana and Pauline being selected as First Team All-Americans,” head coach Kalen Anderson said of the women. “Their committed work ethic, incredible talent, and consistent performance has earned each of them this well-deserved honor. They have helped create and exemplify the unique culture of excellence built within the South Carolina women’s golf program.”

Both women are set to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup this weekend at Rich Harvest Farms. Play is set for June 11-13.
