Emma MosseyCOLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer head coach Shelley Smith announced the signing of defender Emma Mossey (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton Community) to the class of 2022, joining the 10 previous signees announced in November.

“We have a very impressive class of incoming freshmen that we are looking forward to welcoming this upcoming fall”, Smith said. “We are thrilled to be adding even more talent to that group with the addition of Emma. She will add some welcomed depth to our defense, and with the potential we have seen, we are excited to see the impact she will make as she grows as a player in the program.”

A team captain for the Bobcats, Mossey has led her high school squad to three consecutive district championships, including an undefeated regular season in 2020-21. She is a three-time First Team All-County selection. Mossey was named the 2021-22 Preseason Large School Player of the Year and the No. 1 Large School Super Senior. She was also named the 2019-20 Defensive MVP. Mossey has anchored a defensive backline for Boca Raton Community that has earned 24 shutouts over the last three seasons and a 0.50 goals against average.

During the club season, she helped lead Team Boca to the 2021 National Championship of the U19/U20 National League and the Florida State Cup championship.
