No. 4 Gamecocks Fourth, Two Back at Liz Murphey

Three players in the top-15 for South Carolina after the opening 18 holes

ATHENS, Ga. — No. 4 South Carolina is in fourth just two shots back of No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 16 Texas A&M after the opening 18 holes of the Liz Murphey Collegiate. Graduate transfer Tai Anudit and junior Mathilde Claisse paced the Gamecocks with an even par rounds of 72, which has them T-6th with four other players.
 
Freshman standout Hannah Darling, who was named to the final ANNIKA Award Watch List earlier today, shot 1-over and is T-12th. She led the team with four birdies.
 
Freshman Louise Rydqvist was the final counting score with a 78 (+6).
 
The Gamecocks tied for the field lead in par-4 scoring average (4.06, +3) and par-5 scoring average (4.95, -1).
 
Just five in the 83-player field carded red numbers on Friday. A trio of players is tied for the tournament lead at 2-under.
 
South Carolina, who teed off in the afternoon wave today, will go at 8:30 a.m. (ET) on hole one Saturday. Junior Justine Fournand will be the first player off the tee for the Gamecocks, who will be playing alongside Louisville in round two.
