Gamecocks Go Low at Bulls Bay to Take Lead

AWENDAW, S.C. — South Carolina rolled in round one at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday, shooting a 271 (-17) to take a six stroke lead over the rest of the field. Senior All-American Ryan Hall is T-1^st with an opening round 66 (-6).
 
The Knoxville, Tenn., native made seven birdies and an eagle, shooting 35 (-3) on both sides of Bulls Bay Golf Club. Hall recently won the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate for his first win of the season and fourth of his career (T-2^nd most in program history).
 
Sophomore Rafe Reynolds and freshman Nathan Franks are right on his heels at the top of the leaderboard, as each is T-3^rd after posting career-best scores of 67 (-5) the opening 18 holes. The team started on the back nine today and Reynolds made the turn at even par. He lit up the frontside coming into the clubhouse shooting 5-under with three birdies and an eagle. Franks tallied six red numbers on his card with just one bogey at the par-4 16^th.
 
Junior Jack Wall, who has stepped up his game in a big way this spring for the Gamecocks, shot 1-under (71) and was the final counting score.
 
The Gamecocks will be paired with No. 22 Ole Miss and ETSU for the second round on Monday. Redshirt senior Evans Lewis will be the first player off for Carolina on hole one at 10:30 a.m. (ET). Live scoring will again be available via BirdieFire.
