No. 3 South Carolina Concludes Regular Season Sunday

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 3 South Carolina wraps up the regular season starting Sunday at the Wolfpack Match Play. The Gamecocks are one of eight teams in the field and will get the opportunity for some quality prep for the upcoming postseason. Both the SEC Championship and NCAA Championship are decided with match play format.
 
“We’re looking forward to gaining some match play experience prior to our post season,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “I feel this tournament was important to schedule prior to SEC and NCAAs, which each have a match play component. This week will be a nice opportunity see each of our players compete in the alternative format.”
 
Carolina will be the top seed this week and faces eighth-seeded Notre Dame in the quarterfinals tomorrow morning. The winner will face either Virginia Tech or Louisville in the semifinals Sunday afternoon.
 
Freshman Lousie Rydqvist, fresh off her first career top-five finish in helping the team to victory at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic last weekend, will be the top player in the lineup this week. She’s joined by junior Mathilde Claisse, junior transfer Justine Fournand, sophomore Paula Kirner and graduate transfer Tai Anudit. Kirner will be making her lineup debut this week.
 
Freshman standout Hannah Darling is missing her first tournament of the season. She’s competing in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Darling made the top-30 cut and is playing in the final round today at Augusta National today.
 
This year’s squad has won four times, matching last season’s team for the most single-season victories in program history. A win this week would be the team’s fifth and a new program-best mark.
 
The Gamecocks will tee off on hole one starting at 8 a.m. (ET) on Sunday. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.
