GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The South Carolina softball team kicks off the SEC Tournament when the 13th-seeded Gamecocks take on the No. 12 seed Texas A&M Aggies Tuesday, May 10, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on the SEC Network.

  • The Gamecocks trails the all-time series 15-26.
  • Since the Aggies moved to the SEC, they lead the series 11-4.
  • The two teams have met only once in the SEC Tournament, with the Gamecocks winning 6-3 on May 6, 2015.
  • The Gamecocks played the Aggies before any other SEC team.
    • The first meeting between the two teams came on May 22, 1981, in the AIAW World Series in Norman, Oklahoma. The Aggies won that game 4-0.
  • South Carolina is 1-1 all-time in the SEC tournament as the 13th seed.
  • Last season, Carolina was the first 13 seed to win a game in the SEC Tournament, defeating Auburn 3-1.
  • Katie Prebble hit 10 home runs in her first 24 games of the season, which were the most by any Gamecock in recorded history (since 1982). 
  • Prebble’s 14 home runs are third most in a single season.
  • The 41 RBIs by Prebble are tied for 12th most all-time.
  • Jordan Fabian set a new single season record with 41 when she walked three times against Kentucky on Sunday.
    • Fabian broke the record of 40 set by Dana Fulmer in 1995, two years before the SEC added softball. 
  • Jordan Fabian’s 17 stolen bases are the most since Alaynie Page and tied for 11th in a season.
  • The 62 stolen bases by Carolina are the most to start a season since 2013. It’s the third time under Smith they’ve stolen at least 62 (2011, 13). They’re also tied sixth most in a single season in program history.
  • Freshman Emma Sellers’ 34 hits are the most by a freshman since Jana Johns had 36 hits in 2018.
  • The 29 double plays are the second most in program history.
  • The 183 walks by the team are fourth all-time in a season.
  • The 252 RBIs are the eighth most in program history.
  • The 38 home runs are tied for eighth most in program history.
  • The 50 hit by pitches are eighth most in program history.
  • The Gamecocks opened the season at home for the third straight year. Last season the team opened the season with Carolina Classic, but was canceled due to weather. 
  • South Carolina has opened the season at home in 7 of 12 seasons under Smith.
  • The 2022 roster features 22 total players. A total of seven different states are represented.
