Anderson Named WGCA South Region Coach of the Year

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- South Carolina women's golf head coach Kalen Anderson has been Golf Pride WGCA South Region Coach of the Year the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — South Carolina women’s golf head coach Kalen Anderson has been Golf Pride WGCA South Region Coach of the Year the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.
 
She guided the team to a 14th place finish at the NCAA Championship last week. The Gamecocks finished 2nd at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional to punch the program’s 11th trip to the National Championship in 15 seasons under Anderson. Carolina had appeared in the NCAA Championship a total of eight times since 1980 before she took over as head coach in the spring of 2008.
 
After welcoming in four new players to the lineup this season, including a pair of standout freshmen in First Team All-American Hannah Darling and All-SEC selection Louise Rydqvist, Carolina won a program record five tournaments in eight regular season events.
 
Anderson was named SEC Coach of the Year for the third time and had a program-record four players earn All-SEC honors. She was also one of 20 coaches on the watch list for the 2021-22 Division 1 Jackie Steinman WGCA National Coach of the Year Award. Anderson helped lead the team to a No. 4 final Golfstat ranking.
 
Anne Walker, the head coach of National Champion Stanford, was the winner of the Jackie Steinman WGCA National Coach of the Year Award.
