COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina volleyball announced its 2022 fall home schedule Wednesday afternoon. The Gamecocks kick off the season with the Carolina Classic tournament from Aug. 26-27 in the Carolina Volleyball Center and season tickets are now on sale.
Along with VIP season tickets for $75, regular season ticket prices for adults remain $25 and $10 season tickets for fans under 17 years old. All individual memberships are $200 and $50 for each additional family members, with the money going directly into the volleyball program to assist with operational expenses.
“This schedule hits our main three objectives as a staff, which are to allow our team to prepare for SEC play with high-level competition, bring great matches to the CVC in front of one of the best home environments in the country and to build a resumé for another NCAA tournament run,” head coach Tom Mendoza said in advance of his fifth season leading the program.
South Carolina made the NCAA tournament in three of Mendoza’s first four seasons, including last season’s run that also included the team’s first appearance in the national rankings since 2002.
The team’s annual Garnet and Black Scrimmage will be on Saturday, Aug. 13 at 3 p.m. and the season’s first weekend features three opponents over two days. Opening day on Aug. 26 pits the Gamecocks against Sacred Heart for a 10 a.m. match with a nightcap against Omaha at 7:30. The following day, the team hosts upstate rival Winthrop at 4:30 p.m. to wrap up the weekend.
September’s home events start on the 9th, when the Gamecocks host Cincinnati for a two-game series. Friday’s match will be at 5 p.m. and the rematch with the Bearcats on Saturday, Sept. 10 will be at 1 p.m.
South Carolina begins its home conference season Sept. 24-25 with a two-game series against Florida. The Gators are the first of six SEC opponents to play in the CVC this fall, joining Missouri (Oct. 1-2), Mississippi State (Oct. 19), Texas A&M (Oct. 28), Ole Miss (Nov. 5-6) and Auburn (Nov. 23).
