Lydia Roof Named New Assistant Barn Manager
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former Gamecock Lydia Roof has been named Equestrian’s newest Assistant Barn Manager, as announced by head coach Boo Major on Friday.
“We are very happy to welcome Lydia back to the Gamecock family,” Major said. “She spent time on our team as a student athlete before transferring to get a degree in agriculture at Sam Houston State. She has assisted us several times when we have travelled to SEC’s with our horses and has always done an exceptional job. She has worked in the horse industry almost the entire time since graduation and has gained valuable knowledge of horse care and how to run a farm. She will be a great asset to our program.”
Making her way back to Columbia, Roof competed for the Gamecocks for two years (2008-10). Roof has gained more than 10 years of professional experience assisting in managing polo horses and horse farms, has a Bachelor’s in Animal Science, and a Master’s in Agriculture.
