Stone Stadium Receives Upgrades Ahead of 2022 Soccer Seasons

Stone Stadium, the home of the South Carolina men’s and women’s soccer teams, will have a new look and several new amenities for the 2022 season.

The first thing fans will notice as they enter the stadium is the new state-of-the-art Boling Family Video Board. The board will serve a dual purpose, also functioning as the stadium scoreboard. The board is 19×32 feet and will be located in the same spot as the previous scoreboard in the southwest corner.

“Norman and the Boling family have a deep history with South Carolina,” men’s head coach Tony Annan said. “We are honored that he and his family chose to support men’s and women’s soccer to show his unwavering passion for Gamecock Athletics. His family legacy will now be a huge part of the atmosphere at Stone Stadium.”

“We are so grateful to the Boling family for their generous contribution to the soccer programs here at Carolina,” women’s head coach Shelley Smith said. “Stone Stadium is one of the greatest college soccer environments you can find across the country, and the addition of this state-of-the-art videoboard will make it even better. We can’t wait for our fans to experience the atmosphere this season and continue to make it a home field advantage for our soccer teams.”

Stone Stadium received an upgrade to the lighting system, which will provide fans a better viewing experience for night matches. The new LED lighting system contains 114 Ephesus LumaSport 8 fixtures, provided by Cooper’s Lighting. The light levels were elevated to NCAA regional broadcast standards of 75fc. The system allows for programmable lighting styles to provide fans with specific pre-game, in-game, and post-game light shows.

The final facility upgrade fans will notice is a new paint design on the Stone Stadium press box. The building located at the center of the stands now boasts a Garnet and Black design that coordinates with other stadium aesthetic elements.

A new amenity at matches will be specifically for the adults in attendance. For the first time in program history, Stone Stadium will offer fans an assortment of beer for sale at select matches. During the selected 10 home matches, five each for the men and women, beer will be sold at beverage carts throughout the stadium concourse. Those matches are, for the men: Duke, Clemson, USC Upstate, Winthrop, and Marshall; and for the women: Florida State, Clemson, Florida, Texas A&M, and Missouri.

The first opportunity for the fans to experience the new amenities at Stone Stadium will be Saturday, August 13, when the Gamecock men host Duke in an exhibition at 6 p.m. The first women’s home match is the following Thursday, August 18, when they take on defending national champion Florida State at 7 p.m.

Season tickets are on sale now. The best season ticket deal in town is back for the 2022 men’s and women’s soccer season.
