Gamecocks Wrap-Up Day One at SEC Match Play

Carolina sits 13th after 36 holes, led by Evans Lewis who is T-28th at 2-under
VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – South Carolina sits 13th at 2-over as a team through 36 holes of the 2022 edition of SEC Match play. The Gamecocks opened with a 279 (-1) in round one earlier today and shot 283 (+3) in round two.
Redshirt senior Lansdon Robbins highlighted the first 18 holes for Carolina. He shot a career-best 66 (-4) in round one. Robbins made five birdies and was bogey free in the back nine. He shot 75 (+5) in round two.
Fifth-year senior Evans Lewis also posted a red number in round one with a 2-under 68. The only blemish on his scorecard was a double bogey at the par-4 10th hole. He shot 70 (E) in round two and paces the Gamecocks on the leaderboard as he’s T-28th at 2-under.
Gene Zeigler (72, +2) and Nathan Franks (73, +3) were the other counting scores in round one. Zeigler shot 73 (+2) in round two with no birdies and Franks shot 71 (+1) with one red number on his scorecard. Junior Rafe Reynolds bounced back from a tough first round to lead Carolina with a 1-under 69 in round two.
The Gamecocks will tee off at 9:30 a.m. (ET) alongside Kentucky for the final round of stroke play on Monday. Reynolds will be the first player off for Carolina.
