Gamecocks Finish Strong, Face Ole Miss on Tuesday
Sophmore Nathan Franks fires career-best round of 65 (-5) on Monday
VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – South Carolina shot a season-best 7-under round of 273 on Monday in the final round of stroke play at SEC Match Play. The Gamecocks finished 11th at 5-under overall through 54 holes.
Carolina faces Ole Miss in the 11-seed vs. 7-seed matchup on Tuesday. Fifth-year senior Evans Lewis will be the first player off for the Gamecocks in the leadoff match at 9:45 a.m. (ET) at Old Overton Club.
Sophomore Nathan Franks, who made it to the round of 16 this summer at the U.S. Amateur, paced Carolina today with a career-best 65 (-5). He made six birdies and had just one bogey all day. Lewis and junior Rafe Reynolds also posted red numbers with 1-under 69s.
Redshirt senior transfer Lansdon Robbins shot 70 (E) and was the final counting score in his debut in Garnet and Black. He finished T-41st at 1-over and opened with a career-best 66 (-4) in the first round on Sunday morning. Sophomore Gene Zeigler finished with a 73 (+3) today.
