Gamecocks Drop Match to Ole Miss, 3-2

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – South Carolina fell 3-2 on the final day of SEC Match Play on Tuesday at Old Overton Club. The Rebels put the first two points and the board and the Gamecocks answered with wins in the next two matches to tie things at, 2-2.

Hugo Townsend won the final two holes over redshirt senior Lansdon Robbins to win 1-up and secure the decisive third team point.

Carolina got wins from junior Rafe Reynolds and sophomore Nathan Franks. Reynolds won 3&2 and did not trail for the final 11 holes. Franks won 2&1 and led his match for 15 of the 17 holes played.

The Gamecocks will be back in action Oct. 23-25 at the Isleworth Collegiate in Windermere, Fla.
