Carolina shoots field-best 284 (-4) in final round on Tuesday

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – No. 4 South Carolina had another impressive showing in a strong field at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. The Gamecocks took second place after shooting a field-best 284 (-4) in the final round on Tuesday at Exmoor Country Club.

Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling made a late charge with a bogey free 68 (-4) to earn runner-up medalist honors. She shot 211 (-5), just one shot behind champion Amari Avery of Southern Cal.

It’s the seventh top-five finish for Darling now in 13 career starts. She T-5th at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-14). Darling now has three runner-up finishes in her impressive young career as a Gamecock.

Fellow sophomore All-American Louise Rydqvist and senior Mathilde Claisse also fired red numbers in the final round, each shooting 71 (-1). They both finished T-10th at 4-over for the tournament. Rydqvist was making her season debut this week. Claisse, like Darling, is also off to a fine start this season. She finished T-5th as well at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The top-10 finish this week is the fifth of her career.

“The team played very disciplined golf on a very difficult golf course this week,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “I’m extremely proud of our performance and progress – very strong performances by Hannah, Tilly, and Louise.”

Graduate transfer Katherine Muzi was the final counting score with a 74 (+2). Senior Justine Fournand shot 69 (-3) in round three to T-24th at 8-over for the tournament. She competed as an individual this week.
