Samuel, Thomson Advance to Quarterfinals

Tulsa, Okla. – South Carolina men’s tennis doubles pair Toby Samuel and Connor Thomson have advanced to the doubles quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

The 37th ranked Gamecock pair upset No. 29 Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens of NC State in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2 in the Round of 16. Opponents and match times for tomorrow will be made available once they have been announced by the ITA.

In singles, No. 37 Samuel fell to No. 40 Max Basing of Stanford. The Gamecock took the first set 6-4, but Basing responded with two straight set wins to take the match.

Play will continue at the All-American Championships tomorrow with all main draw matches being broadcast on the Cracked Racquets Crosscourt Cast. Live streaming and scoring will be provided through TrackTennis.
