COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s soccer team returns to Stone Stadium Sunday, October 23, when the Gamecocks host James Madison at 3 p.m. Sunday’s match will be the first meeting between the two programs. Students attending the game will receive double points and the first 200 students will receive free pizza.

Taking the Pitch

  • This is the first meeting between the two programs.
  • Despite the two sides having played soccer for a combined 100 years,
  • James Madison was a part of the Colonial Athletic Association since its inception in 1979, before joining the Sun Belt this year.
  • The Gamecocks and Dukes have both won over 500 matches in their program history, combining for 1,074 victories.
  • The lone common opponent on the season outside of conference play is Gardner Webb. The Gamecocks tied them 1-1 in an exhibition, while JMU won 2-1 on Oct. 8.

  • Two Gamecocks have scored a brace this season, Adam Luckhurst and Logan Frost.
  • Adam Luckhurst became the first player since 2018 to record a goal and two assists in a match when he did so against Winthrop.
