Gamecocks T-8th at Isleworth Collegiate

Grad transfer Zack Byers led the way with a 1-under 71 the opening 18 holes

WINDERMERE, Fla. – South Carolina shot an opening round 293 (+5) on Sunday at the Isleworth Collegiate and sits in the middle of the pack T-8th. Graduate transfer Zack Byers led the way with a 1-under score of 71. He led the team with five birdies on his scorecard.

Freshman Zach Adams, who is making his lineup debut this week, shot an even par score of 72. He had a pair of birdies and an eagle at the par-5 13^th hole.

Sophomore Nathan Franks shot 74 (+2) with a trio of birdies and fifth-year senior Evans Lewis was the final counting score with a 4-over 76.

Just two of 15 teams fired red numbers with their four counting scores in round one. No. 3 Auburn jumped out to a commanding lead by 13 shots with a field best score of 273 (-15). The Tigers’ Alex Vogelsong is the 18-hole leader after shooting a bogey free 66 (-6).

The Gamecocks will be paired with West Virginia and Cal for the second round on Monday. Redshirt junior Lansdon Robbins will lead things off at 8 a.m. (ET) on hole one.
