Gamecocks Ninth at Isleworth Collegiate

WINDERMERE, Fla. – South Carolina carded a 4-over score of 292 on Monday at the Isleworth Collegiate. The Gamecocks sit in ninth place at 9-over through 36 holes, six shots back of a spot in the top-five.

The team was led by true freshman Zach Adams, who posted the low round of the day with another even par score of 72. Adams, a Charleston, S.C. native, is making his lineup debut this week. He’s T-18^th at even par through the opening two rounds and sits three shots back of the top-10. Adams led the team with five birdies today. He was bogey free on the back nine, posting a 4-under score of 32.

Graduate transfer Zack Byers is also T-18^th at even par after he shot 73 (+1). Fifth-year senior Evans Lewis also shot 73 (+1). He was 3-over through 14 holes but fought down the stretch with back-to-back birdies at holes 16 and 17. Sophomore Nathan Franks shot 74 (+2) and was the final counting score for Carolina.

Scoring has been tough as No. 3 Auburn, No. 11 Florida and Purdue are the only teams under par in the 15-squad field. The Tigers’ Brendan Valdes is the individual leader by a shot at 10-under after firing another 67 (-5) in round two.

The Gamecocks will again tee off at 8 a.m. (ET) for the final round on Tuesday. Carolina will be paired with No. 24 Arizona and West Virginia. Redshirt junior Lansdon Robbins will be the first player off again for the Gamecocks.
