No. 4 Gamecocks, Fournand Look to Defend Titles at Landfall Tradition
Gamecocks won 2022 team title by 12 shots and Fournand by three shots after lights out finish down the stretch
WILMINGTON, N.C. – No. 4 South Carolina concludes the fall starting Friday at the Landfall Tradition. The Gamecocks will look to defend both their team title and senior Justine Fournand’s individual title this weekend.
It’s a stacked, 18-team field at Country Club of Landfall this week with five top-20 teams in the latest Golfstat Team Rankings and numerous others in the top-50.
Carolina’s lineup will again be led this week by four experienced players in sophomore All-Americans Hannah Darling and Lousie Rydqvist and the senior French duo of Mathilde Claisse and Fournand, who won the tournament last season with an electric birdie, birdie, eagle finish after trailing by two shots with three holes remaining.
Freshman Mia Sandtorv Lussand returns to the lineup this week. Graduate transfer Katherine Muzi will compete as an individual.
The Gamecocks will be paired with No. 9 San Jose State and Purdue in the opening round on Friday. Sandtorv Lussand will lead things off at 10:09 a.m. (ET) on hole one.
