Volleyball Hosts Texas A&M on Friday Night
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina volleyball (10-9, 4-5 SEC) returns to action Friday night when it hosts Texas A&M (11-10, 3-7 SEC) at 7 p.m. in the Carolina Volleyball Center. It will be a busy night surrounding the match, the team will honor a seven-woman class for Senior Night pregame and also recognize over 25 former Gamecocks who are returning to Columbia for Alumnae Night and the university’s homecoming weekend.
The match will air on the SEC Network+ online stream, with Dave Weinstein and Paul MacDonald on the call. Participating in senior night will be Gabby Brown, Camilla Covas, Holly Eastridge, Jenna Hampton, Dalaney Hans, McKenzie Moorman and Janna Schlageter.
The Gamecocks have dropped four matches in a row to the Aggies, who hold a 15-3 record in the all-time series. Texas A&M snapped a six-game losing streak in a big way during its last weekend of competition, upsetting No. 16 Kentucky at home in straight sets on Oct. 22. It was the first time in five years that the Wildcats were swept in a SEC match.
The Aggies have one of the most effective 1-2 punches in the conference, with freshman Logan Lednicky (3.83 kills per set) and graduate transfer Caroline Meuth (3.84 kills/set) accounting for just under 60 percent of the team’s total kills for the season and 60 percent of the total attacks. Meuth also brings one of the toughest serves in the SEC, with 29 total so far this season. On defense, the Aggies have five different passers with 150 or more digs so far and are led at the net by Madison Bowser’s 73 total blocks. Bowser also is the current SEC leader with a .455 hitting percentage, with just 22 errors on 266 swings this fall.
