No. 4 Gamecocks Take Fourth at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – No. 4 South Carolina finished fourth in a strong 18-team field on Sunday at the Landfall Tradition. The Gamecocks posted their third straight red number as a team with a final round 280 (-8). It marked the team’s final fall event of the 2022-23 season.

Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling was lights out, matching a career-best score with a 66 (-6) that featured seven birdies. She climbed 17 spots to finish T-6^th at 6-under overall. It was her fourth top-10 in four starts this season. Darling is currently the top-ranked player in the nation in the latest Golfstat Player Rankings.

Senior Justine Fournand, the defending champion of the event, took solo third after another under par round. She shot 70 (-2) and finished with a final 54-hole tally of 208 (-8). It marks her first top-five of the season and the eighth of her career.

Senior Mathilde Claisse and freshman Mia Sandtorv Lussand were the final counting scores with even par 72s. Sophomore Lousie Rydqvist joined Darling and Fournand in the top-20 with a T-13^th finish at 2-under. She logged a final round 74 (+2). Graduate transfer Katherine Muzi, who was playing as an individual this week, shot 70 (-2) and finished T-25^th at even par. She made five birdies and an eagle in the final round.

As a team, the Gamecocks led the field in par-5 scoring average this week (4.72, -17) and finished second with 52 birdies.

San Jose State held on for the wire-to-wire victory at 22-under overall. The Spartans also shot 280 (-8) in the final round today. Florida State’s Charlotte Heath and San Jose State’s Louisa Carlbom were co-medalist at 10-under (206).
