Natalie Jayne named SEC Rider of the Month

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Freshman Natalie Jayne has been named the Co-SEC Fences Rider of the Month, as announced by the conference on Thursday. The honor marks the first conference award for Jayne, and the second for the Gamecocks this season (Emma Lane, Reining, 12/01/22).

In February, Jane went 3-0 in the event, taking down top-10 opponents including on the road at No. 7 Georgia. Against the Bulldogs, Jayne put up an 86-80 win over Tessa P. Brown, and continued her winning streak at home with an 81-80 win over Devon H. Thomas and the No. 3 ranked Texas A&M Aggies. In her final ride in February, Jayne put up an impressive 92-83 victory over No. 1 SMU’s Alex Pielet to go undefeated in the event.

Jayne’s 92 was the highest score in Fences this season for the Gamecocks, and ties for the sixth-highest score in the South Carolina record books. The freshman is currently 7-3-0 in the event, and her seven wins places her tied at No. 7 in the books for most wins as a freshman in the event.

Jayne and the rest of the Gamecocks will hit the road for the final time this season, taking on No. 2 Auburn at 4:00 p.m. EST. Fans are encouraged to follow along with in meet updates on Twitter and Instagram, @GamecockEQ.
