Gamecocks to take on Auburn in Semifinals of SEC Tournament

BLYTHEWOOD, SC – The No. 4 seed South Carolina Equestrian team will take on the No. 1 seeded Auburn Tigers in the semi finals of the 2023 SEC Equestrian Championship on Friday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. The meet will be live streamed on SEC Network+ as the Gamecocks look to earn their fourth SEC title (2012, 2013, 2014).

LAST TIME OUT

The No. 7 South Carolina Equestrian team (5-6, 1-5) wrapped up the regular season on the road at No. 2 Auburn (9-2, 5-1) falling 14-4. The Tigers took Jumping Seat 8-1 with a tie in Fences, and Western 6-3 with a tie in Horsemanship. Senior Mary Margaret Coats saw the biggest win of the day in Reining, defeating current SEC and NCEA Rider of the Month Alexia Tordoff 70.5-70 on Duke.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

The current reigning SEC Tournament Champions, Auburn leads the overall series with South Carolina 32-16. The Gamecocks were defeated by the Tigers in both meetings during the regular season, but saw wins from Jordan Allen, Trinity Hammerschmidt, Emily Giorgio, Emma Lane, Kiersten Beckner and Emilia Reutimann.
