Carolina seeking its sixth all-time win at the Lowcountry event established in 2005
AWENDAW, S.C. – South Carolina is back action again this week as it co-hosts the Hootie at Bulls Intercollegiate with College of Charleston and Bulls Bay Golf Club. First round action gets underway Sunday morning in the Lowcountry.
The Gamecocks will be paired with SEC foes Kentucky and Missouri for the opening round. Freshman Zach Adams, who is the five man this week after edging out sophomore Gene Zeigler in qualifying, will be the first Carolina player off from hole one at 10:21 a.m. (ET).
Sophomore Nathan Franks, who is fresh off back-to-back top-five finishes for the first time in his career, mans the top spot in this week’s lineup at Bulls Bay. He’s joined by fifth-year senior Evans Lewis, junior Rafe Reynolds and redshirt senior Lansdon Robbins. Zeigler will compete as an individual this week.
No. 40 Purdue, No. 41 East Tennessee State and No. 47 Missouri are the highest ranked teams in the field this week. Carolina and NC State sit just outside the top-50.
The Gamecocks and Buccaneers were co-champs of the event last season. Carolina has won the tournament five times in its 17-year history. Kentucky won the inaugural Hootie at Bulls Bay in 2005. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID.
