Gamecocks Seeded No. 7 in NCEA Nationals Bracket

WACO, Texas – The South Carolina Equestrian team (5-8) will be the No. 7 seed in the 2023 NCEA Championship, as announced on Tuesday as they look to secure the programs fourth title (2005, 2007, 2015). The Gamecocks will meet with fellow SEC foe and No. 2 seed Auburn (11-2) in Ocala, Fla. at the World Equestrian Center, April 13-15.

Last Time Out

South Carolina held the 2023 SEC Equestrian Championships in Blythewood, hosting all four conference teams. The Gamecocks met the Auburn Tigers in the semifinals, falling 13-7. Despite the loss, Madeline Schaefer (Fences) and Haley Tuner (Reining) each earned MOP honors for their rides.

The Gamecocks then faced Georgia in the consolation round, where they were defeated 15-5. Schaefer and Turner remained undefeated in their respective events however, giving them each a spot on the SEC All-Championship Team.

Scouting the Tigers

South Carolina will face Auburn for the fourth time this season, where the Tigers hold a 3-0 advantage. Auburn was most recently crowned the SEC Tournament Champion, after defeating Texas A&M 13-6 for their fifth consecutive title.
