Rafe Reynolds paced Carolina with a 5-under 65

CAMDEN, S.C. – South Carolina men’s golf had one more final tune-up on Monday for the SEC Championship next week at Sea Island. The Gamecocks utilized an extra competition day due to a rain out and hosted Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb at Camden Country Club.

The trio of teams played 18 holes with six-player lineups, counting your five lowest scores.

Carolina shot 340 (-10) and were led by junior Rafe Reynolds, who posted a 5-under 65. Fifth-year senior Evans Lewis shot 67 (-3). Sophomore Gene Zeigler logged a 68 (-2) and transfer Lansdon Robbins carded a 1-under 69. Sophomore Nathan Franks was the final counting score with a 71 (+1).

The 2023 SEC Championship (April 19-23) will again be played at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course for the 22nd year. The SEC has conducted its annual championship on St. Simons Island since 2001 (Seaside Course 2001-2007, 2010-2021; Frederica Golf Club 2008-2009). Since 1927, the Sea Island Golf Club has enjoyed a legacy as one of America’s premier golf clubs.

It’ll be the sixth consecutive conference tournament where the team champion will be decided via match play. Teams will play 54 holes starting next Wednesday with a cut to the top-eight after the third round on Friday. Quarterfinal matches will take place Saturday morning.
