Gamecocks Edged by No. 4 Florida State to End Conference Tournament Run
HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – South Carolina came just a few points shy of extending its postseason stay in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association’s conference tournament on Friday, but fell 4-1 to No. 4 Florida State in the consolation bracket. The Gamecocks finish the tournament with a 19-12 overall record.
With all five courts playing at once, each team would claim their first points off sweeps. Florida State won on court five, but the Gamecocks countered on court four. Jolie Cranford and Kennedy Westendorff made easy work of their matchup, winning 21-17, 21-17 to tie the dual. The momentum swung away from Carolina on courts two and three, where the Seminoles were able to clinch the overall team win by the barest of margins. Florida State won, 28-26 and 21-19 on court two and 21-19, 21-19 on court three to eliminate the Gamecocks.
