Men’s Soccer Leads Division I in Team GPA, Earns Team Academic Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team earned the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches, which recognizes exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year. The Gamecocks finished the academic year with a combined GPA of 3.73, the highest among all NCAA Division I programs.
“It’s a testament to the culture the players are creating in their locker room,” head coach Tony Annan said. “A culture of accountability, standards, and discipline, and what being a Gamecock stands for. I am thrilled for the team and will take this victory as progress in our process to achieve a high level of success.”
A total of 307 men’s soccer teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 academic year. The Gamecocks earned the fourth highest GPA among all men’s programs that were honored by the United Soccer Coaches.
This marks the third time the Gamecocks have led Division I in GPA (2010 and 2013). It is also the 15th time overall receiving the Team Academic Award.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
