Gamecocks Announce 2023-24 Schedule

South Carolina Athletics

Carolina will again face one of the toughest schedules in the country ; will play on Golf Channel three times in regular season

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina announced its 2023-24 schedule for upcoming women’s college golf season on Friday. The Gamecocks, who had the toughest schedule in the country last season via the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, will travel coast-to-coast facing the nation’s best teams.

Carolina will again open the season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Sept. 11 in Minnesota. The Gamecocks hoisted the team title in 2021 en route to a program record five wins that season. The Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt and Blessings Collegiate Invitational will be new events for Carolina this fall. The Blessings tournament is a co-ed event with men’s and women’s teams from each participating school and Golf Channel will also provide live coverage at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, which hosted the 2019 NCAA Championship.

The Gamecocks will conclude the fall at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, making the program’s third straight appearance in the illustrious event which features the nation’s top men’s and women’s teams. This year’s event will be played at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas and be televised by Golf Channel.

Carolina will open the spring on the west coast with a pair of early February tournaments in the San Diego Area. This year’s NCAA Championship is moving to Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, and it will be a valuable opportunity for the Gamecocks to compete on the same type of grass.

The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, which has turned into one of the nation’s primer college tournaments and is hosted every year by South Carolina alongside Long Cove Club, will be played March 4-6 this season. Golf Channel will have TV coverage of the event for the third consecutive season. The Valspar Augusta Invitational returns to the team’s schedule March 16-17 at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta. Carolina will conclude the regular season at the newly formed Old Barnwell Match Play. The all-match play event will be hosted by the Gamecocks and Old Barnwell Club, a new top course that sits just outside of Aiken off I-20.

For the first time in 10 years, the SEC Championship will not be played at Greystone and is moving to Pelican Golf Club outside of Tampa, Fla. April 12-16. NCAA Regionals will take place May 6-8 at six sites across the country with the NCAA Championship moving to the Champions Course at Omni La Costa for the next three seasons. Texas will serve as the host school for college golf’s National Championship.

Carolina returns three starters from last season’s NCAA Quarterfinal squad in All-Americans Hannah Darling and Louise Rydqvist and All-SEC Freshman standout Mia Sandtorv Lussand. The trio was part of a team that helped led Carolina to match play at the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2016. The Gamecocks welcome in a pair of standout first-year players from France in Maylis Lamoure and Vairana Heck. The Burnett sisters, Sophia and Camila, also return off strong summers and will compete for spots in the lineup. Sophia sat out last season after transferring from Furman and Camila joined the team in the spring.
