Goffi Releases Men’s Tennis Fall Schedule

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis head coach Josh Goffi announced his team’s Fall 2023 schedule on Friday.

“The fall season is where we get most of our physical and technical development in and we’ve tailored the schedule to allow the guys to get the most out of their semester,” said Goffi. “We’ve put together a great fall schedule this year and we’re kicking it off with an amazing tournament at home featuring a few of the best players in the country.”

The season opening Gamecock Ranked + tournament will take place at the Carolina Tennis Center from Sept. 15-17. Admission will be free and open to the public.

They will then hit the road for the remainder of the semester with qualifying players attending the ITA All-American Championships from Sept. 30-Oct. 8 in Tulsa, Okla. Pre-qualifying for the event will take place Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 with qualifying to follow on Oct. 2 and 3. The main draw will run from Oct. 4-8. The next round of competition will take place closer to home at the ITA Carolina Regionals in Cary, N.C., Oct. 20-24. Junior Casey Hoole looks to repeat as the Carolina Region Champion after having claimed the title at the event in 2022.

The fall season will conclude with two concurrent events; the Wake Forest Fall Invite and the ITA Fall National Championships. The squad will split with those qualified heading to San Diego, Calif., for the ITA Fall Nationals from Nov. 1-5, and remaining members of the team attending the event in Winston-Salem Nov. 3-5.

The Gamecocks finished last season ranked No. 8 in the nation, the program’s best final ranking since coming in at No. 5 at the end of the 1988-89 campaign. South Carolina concluded their previous season in the NCAA Championships Quarterfinals and with a record of 22-7.
