Men’s Tennis Continues Action at Gamecock Ranked +1
Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis completed its’ second day of action at the Gamecock Ranked +1 on Saturday, adding one doubles win and two singles wins to the team’s season total.
The day began with doubles where the pair of Casey Hoole and Jelani Sarr defeated Auburn’s Alejandro Moreno and Billy Blaydes 8-3. South Carolina’s other pairing of Lucas da Silva and Carter Morgan came out on the lesser side of close match to the nation’s No. 7 pair 8-5. Both pairs fell in their second-round matches.
In singles, No. 59 Hoole fell in three sets to Arizona’s Inaki Cabrera in the A-draw. The Wildcat took the first set 6-3 but Hoole battled back to claim the second 6-1. The final set was tight, but Cabrera perfectly timed a late break to take it 7-5.
Also in the A-draw was da Silva who remained perfect in singles play for the season. The Brazilian took down Duke’s Andrew Dale 7-5, 6-1. He is now a perfect 3-0 on the season and has yet to give up a set.
Senior Carter Morgan closed the team out with a win to conclude the day’s action – his first of the season. The Jacksonville, Fla., native bested Columbia’s Jayden Templeman in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
The Gamecock Ranked +1 will conclude on Sunday with one round of doubles followed by one round of singles beginning at 9 a.m.
