No. 7 Gamecocks Open Play at Mason Rudolph Championship Friday

Carolina playing in the event for the first time since the fall of 2017

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 7 South Carolina is set to return to the Mason Rudolph Championship as the opening round gets underway Friday morning. The Gamecocks are making their seventh all-time trip to the event and first since the fall of the 2017-18 season.

It’s the same five-person lineup for Carolina that propelled the team victory at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 11-13) last week in Minnesota. Tournament co-champion Louise Rydqvist has the top spot in the lineup at Vanderbilt Legends Club. French freshmen Maylis Lamoure (T-5^th) and Vairana Heck (T-9^th), who each had top-10 finishes in their Gamecock debuts at the ANNIKA, will be in the 2-3 spots.

Two-time First Team All-American and ANNIKA Award Watch Lister Hannah Darling will be slotted fourth with sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand will be in the fifth spot.

It’s another strong 17-team field this week that will be a good test for a young and talented Carolina squad. Six teams alongside the Gamecocks are ranked in the top-25 of the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll. Carolina will see six SEC foes this weekend including four ranked programs in No. 4 LSU, No. 9 Auburn, No. 16 Ole Miss and No. 17 Vanderbilt. The Rebels are also fresh off a season-opening win at the Cougar Classic. Tiger All-American Ingrid Lindbald captured the individual crown at the same event which took place at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C.
