Seventh Ranked Gamecocks Take On Tennessee
COLUMBIA, SC – No. 7 South Carolina women’s soccer (7-1-2) is set to face Tennessee (6-2-1) at home in Stone Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be live on ESPNU.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gamecocks picked up their second 0-0 draw of the season on the road at Kentucky. Despite the draw, it was the seventh clean sheet for South Carolina this year, and fifth year keeper Heather Hinz recorded six saves and her 26th career shutout.
SCOUTING THE LADY VOLUNTEERS
Sunday’s meeting with Tennessee will be the 29th in program history, dating back to 1996. The Lady Vols currently lead the series 14-11-3, but the Gamecocks took home a huge road win last season after taking Tennessee down 6-1 in Knoxville (Oct. 23). Corinna Zullo and Shae O’Rourke each had two goals in the game, the first time for South Carolina since the 2015 season. The two teams then became co-champions of the SEC East at the end of the regular season.
Tennessee comes off a 2-0 win over Florida at home, their first SEC victory of the season. The Lady Volunteers out-shot the Gators 13-8 on the night, and saw goals from Sizzy Lawton and Kate Runyon.
