No. 7 Gamecocks Take Third at Mason Rudolph Championship

Carolina has shot six-straight under par rounds to start the 2023-24 season

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 7 South Carolina ascended the leaderboard in the final round on Sunday for a third-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship. The Gamecocks shot 282 (-6) and tied tournament host and champion No. 17 Vanderbilt for the second-best team score of the third round.

Just five schools in the 18-team field posted a red number today. The Commodores won by three shots over No. 9 Auburn. Carolina’s 54-hole total was 848 (-16), three shots in front of No. 14 Arizona State.

Junior All-American Louise Rydqvist paced the Gamecocks with a 3-under 69 today. She finished T-5th at 7-under overall, her second straight top-five finish. She led the team with six birdies the final 18 holes. Fellow junior All-American and ANNIKA Award Watch Lister Hannah Darling also fired a red numbed today with another 2-under 70. She finished T-12th at 5-under for the tournament. Darling and Rydqvist each made 13 birdies to lead the Gamecocks this weekend at Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand also had a nice final round today with a 2-under 70. She finished T-28th at 1-under. Freshman Vai Heck shot 73 (+1) and was the final counting score. She T-41st at 2-over. The first-year standout from France was one of just three players in the field with multiple eagles. Fellow French freshman Maylis Lamoure shot 74 (+2) and she finished T-30th at even par.

The Gamecocks will be back in action at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 2-4) followed by the fall finale at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup (Oct. 9-11). Both events will be televised by the Golf Channel.
