Men’s Soccer Wins Sun Belt Team GPA Award, 23 Players Earn Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS – The South Carolina men’s soccer team placed 23 players on the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll for the 2022-23 school year, as announced by the league Wednesday (Sept. 27). The squad earned the Team Grade Point Average Award for having the highest team GPA in men’s soccer. Additionally, Parker League earned the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award.
League earned his bachelor’s degree last spring in international business while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. Over four seasons in Columbia, he played in 63 matches, starting 54 times. For his career, League collected two goals and three assists. He was twice selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team.
The 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award recognizes student-athletes at FBS football-sponsoring institutions who earned their undergraduate degrees between September 1, 2022 and August 31, 2023 and compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or better upon graduation. In addition, the student-athletes must have participated in at least two years of NCAA intercollegiate athletics at an FBS institution.
The Commissioner’s List honors student-athletes who earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or better during the 2022-23 academic year while the Academic Honor Roll honors those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.00 and 3.49 for the academic year.
The team grade point average award recognizes each men’s and women’s team that maintained the highest grade point average during the 2022-23 academic year.
