Gamecocks Close Out PreQualifying at ITA All-Americans
TULSA, Okla. – South Carolina men’s tennis sophomore Lucas da Silva added a win in a pre-qualifying consolation match at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Sunday. Qualifying matches begin Monday with Gamecock junior Casey Hoole and freshman Sean Daryabeigi taking the courts at 11 a.m. ET.
In third round of the prequalifying draw, freshman Jelani Sarr dropped a tough 6-4, 7-5 decision to Oklahoma’s Luis Carlos Alvarez Valdes to close out his tournament.
Da Silva and senior Carter Morgan played consolation matches on Sunday with da Silva picking up the win. The Gamecock sophomore was efficient against UT Arlington’s Dante Carlos Teramo, taking a routine first set 6-4 and closing it out with a 6-0 second set. Morgan dropped his second match of the tournament, falling to Sachin Palta of Columbia, 6-1, 7-5.
In Monday’s start of qualifying rounds, Hoole will take on Timothy Carlsson Seger of Tulsa, while Daryabeigi will face Santa Clara’s Christian Lerby
