Men’s Tennis Heads North for Wake Forest Invitational

Winston-Salem, N.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis will conclude fall play this weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The event will run Nov. 3-5 at the Wake Forest Tennis Center with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. each day.

The draw of 120 players represent 23 institutions from across the east coast and will be divided into a compass draw. Live results and streaming will not be available however final results and draws will be available on the tournament webpage.

This event will be the team’s final appearance of the fall and first appearance since the Carolina Regional Championships in which the team tallied a 14-6 singles record and a 5-2 doubles record.

Junior Casey Hoole was a semifinalist at the event, having won five matches (all in straight sets) on his way through the bracket. Hoole is 9-7 overall in singles this season including a pair of ranked wins – one of them over the nation’s No. 11 ranked player.

Sophomore Lucas Andrade da Silva leads the team this season with an 8-2 record in singles. Da Silva went a perfect 4-0 at the team’s season opening tournament and went 3-1 at the Carolina Regionals.

South Carolina’s freshmen Sean Daryabeigi and Jelani Sarr have each quickly been proving themselves. Daryabeigi has a 7-3 singles record while Sarr’s record is 6-4. Both Gamecocks have already claimed ranked wins in their early careers with Sarr holding two and Daryabeigi holding one.
