Gamecocks Add Kentucky Transfer Anna Young
COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina women’s soccer will see a new face starting this spring with the addition of Anna Young, a senior transfer from Kentucky.
Young started in all 19 matches of the Wildcats’ 2023 campaign, leading all field players in total minutes at 1,659. The senior had a career-high three shots on goal, logged an assist against fellow SEC rival Tennessee, was a team captain, and named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist.
Throughout her time as a Wildcat, Young started in 35 of 51 games, and played for the full 90 minutes in 15 matches, including the last 11 of her Kentucky career consecutively.
In the classroom, Young was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection and was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
Before Kentucky, Young was named a United Soccer Coaches (USC) Scholar All-American (2019-20), earned Washing Catholic Athletic Conference All-Conference Honors (2018-20), Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer All-State honors (2018-20), USC All-Region honors (2019-20), and was the team captain of her high school team in addition to being named her high school MVP in the 2019-20 season.
