No. 2 Gamecocks Host Wolfpack Friday Evening

Columbia, S.C. – No. 2 South Carolina men’s tennis continues its non-conference schedule on Friday with a match against NC State at 4:00 p.m. at the Carolina Indoor Tennis Center. Free parking is available in the tennis center parking lot with overflow parking available at Camp BowWow.

Gamecock Notables

  • South Carolina is ranked No. 2 in the latest ITA Coaches Top-25 poll. The No. 2 ranking ties for highest ranking in program history and marks the first time in program history that South Carolina has held the No. 2 ranking for multiple weeks.
  • The Gamecocks are off to a 3-0 start on the season with a upset of then-No. 1 Virginia in Charlottesville to start the season and a pair of wins during the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
  • Freshman Jelani Sarr enters the match as the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week after clinching both of South Carolina’s matches during the ITA Kickoff Weekend, sending the Gamecocks to their third consecutive ITA Indoor Championships.
  • Senior Toby Samuel has led the team from the top of the singles lineup this season where he is 2-0.
  • 92 Casey Hoole has been a strong No. 2 for the Gamecocks this season. He is 2-1 in dual play and 14-10 overall with a pair of ranked wins on his resume.
  • Through its first three matches South Carolina has only won one doubles point this season over LSU. The win came along with the return of two-time doubles All-American Connor Thomson to the lineup.
