Carolina looking to get back on track after losing consecutive games for the first time all season last week
COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 20/20 South Carolina (21-5, 9-4 SEC) returns to action on Saturday on the road against Ole Miss (19-7, 6-7 SEC). Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m. (ET) with Richard Cross (pxp) and Pat Bradley (analyst) on the call.
The Gamecocks had their bye with no mid-week game and will look to get back on track in Oxford after dropping consecutive games for the first time all season last week.
The Rebels have been great at home this season, posting a 14-1 record with the lone defeat coming at the hands of Auburn, 91-77, on Jan. 27. Four players average double figures led by Matthew Murrell, who averages 17.3 points per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 41.0 percent from behind the arc. Auburn transfer Allen Flanigan averages 15.4 points per game and Saint Peter’s transfer Jaylen Murray averages 14.0 points per contest.
As a team, Ole Miss ranks 13th in the nation in 3-point percentage, shooing the ball at a 38.3 percent clip from distance. The Rebels are seventh in the country in blocks per game (5.8). They rank inside the top-50 nationally in assists per game (44th at 15.5) and steals per game (42nd at 8.3).
The Gamecocks defeated Ole Miss, 68-65, back on Feb. 6 in a game that Carolina led by as many as 17 points.
Carolina has won consecutive games at The Sandy and John Black Pavilion at Ole Miss the last two seasons after recording just two wins all-time prior in Oxford.
