Darling Named SEC Golfer of the Week After First Win

Junior All-American has now been named SEC Golfer of the Week three times in her career and twice this season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior All-American Hannah Darling has been named SEC Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Thursday. It’s the second time she’s received the honor this season and the third time of her career.
Darling had a great week with a pair of top-five finishes for the No. 4 Gamecocks, including her first career win at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (March 4-6). She shot 208 (-5) to be crowned co-champion of the prestigious event which featured 11 top-25 programs.
After shooting 72 (+1) the opening round, she jolted up the leaderboard with a 5-under 66 in round two that featured seven birdies.
The Midlothian, Scotland, native followed up her performance at Long Cove Club with a T-2nd finish at the Valspar Augusta Invitational (March 8-10) over the weekend. She shot 211 (-5) en route to runner-up medalist honors. Darling again went low in the second round with a 5-under 67 that featured four birdies and an eagle. She was one of just eight players in the 93-women field to record an eagle.
The Gamecocks will be off from competition until the Old Barnwell Match Play event March 25-26. South Carolina is the host school for the inaugural event which will be played at Old Barnwell outside of Aiken, S.C. The club has been a vital asset to growing collegiate women’s golf with the ANNIKA Development Program which former Gamecocks Katherinze Muzi and Lois Kaye Go have participated in.
