Junior from Roebuck, S.C. picked up his second win in three spring starts over the weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Nathan Franks was named SEC Golfer of the Week on Wednesday the league office announced. It’s the second time he’s won the award this season.

The Roebuck, S.C., native picked up his second win in three spring starts to lead the team to a top-five finish at the Schenkel Invitational over the weekend.

Franks shot a career-best score of 203 (-13) with rounds of 69-66-68 en route to his three-shot victory. The three-year starter led the field with 21 birdies over the course of 54-holes.

Both of his wins this spring are the first victories of his career.

The Gamecocks will be back on the course again Sunday at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (March 24-26). It is the only event the team host this season. Admission is free and fans in The Lowcountry are encouraged to come out and support the team.
