INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – South Carolina received an at-large selection to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on Wednesday as part of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. It marks the 15th all-time NCAA Regional appearance under head coach Bill McDonald and 30th overall in program history.
Teams will play 54-holes of stroke play at the six regional sites across the country May 13-15 with the top-five teams and top individual on non-advancing teams punching their tickets to the NCAA Championship.
This year’s championship will take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. May 24-29. It will be the first of three NCAA finals hosted by Texas at the west coast course.
Carolina will be seeking its ninth trip to the NCAA Championship and first since 2019 under McDonald. The team has made 22 overall appearances in the NCAA Championship.
The Gamecocks will be the No. 10 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional, which features five top-25 teams led by the top-ranked Auburn Tigers, the No. 1 overall seed after being crowned SEC Champions last Sunday at Sea Island. LSU from the SEC is also in the Baton Rouge Regional field as they will take aim on their home golf course for a chance to get to NCAA finals.
