Shelley Smith Unveils 2024 Women's Soccer Schedule

COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina women’s soccer head coach Shelley Smith has announced the 2024 season schedule, kicking off the year with an exhibition against the newest USL team, Carolina Ascent FC. The full schedule can be found here.

“We are looking forward to starting this 2024 fall season and seeing where it will take us as we work our way towards the postseason,” Smith said. “The non-conference is a good balance of competitive matches on the road and at home that should prepare us well for the always challenging SEC season.  We have a talented group full of many returning players who are hungry for another championship season!  Our fan support at Stone Stadium has been phenomenal as we led in attendance for college soccer in 2023 and hope to break more attendance records this fall. We know our fans will enjoy what they see on the field and we look forward to competing for them all season.”

The Gamecocks will first take the field in an exhibition match against Carolina Ascent FC (Aug. 5), marking the first game in program history against a professional team. South Carolina will then host Wake Forest (Aug. 10) in another exhibition, before opening up the 2024 regular season at home against Furman (Aug. 18).

At home, the 2024 women’s soccer schedule features four non-conference matchups, including in-state rival Clemson (Sept. 5). The game against the Tigers will be the 31st all-time meeting between the two teams, having met every season since the Gamecocks began the program in 1995. South Carolina will look to secure the Palmetto Series point after coming off a 0-0 tie last season.

After a home game against the College of Charleston (Aug. 25), the Gamecocks take a trip north to Ohio, taking on both Ohio State (Aug. 29) and Miami Ohio (Sept. 1) for the first time in program history.

SEC play will kick off on the road at Georgia (Sept. 19), and return home for the conference opener against Kentucky (Sept. 22) and Mississippi State (Sept. 29). The Gamecocks will face Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Tennessee on the road, while welcoming Florida, Alabama, and Auburn to Columbia. The 2024 regular season will conclude at home against the Auburn Tigers (Oct. 27) before the Gamecocks prepare for the postseason.

The 2024 SEC Tournament will take place Nov. 2-9, once again held in Pensacola, Florida.

Ticket information will be provided at a later date.
