SEC Unveils 2025 Men's Hoops Schedule

South Carolina Athletics

Gamecocks will play 10 NCAA Tournament teams from 2024 with six of those matchups at Colonial Life Arena

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Southeastern Conference announced its 2025 men’s basketball schedule on Tuesday afternoon. South Carolina will open the conference slate on the road on Saturday Jan. 4 at Mississippi State. Ten of the team’s 18 SEC games will be against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

Of the team’s nine home games, the Gamecocks will welcome in six squads that made the 2024 NCAA Tournament to Colonial Life Arena in Alabama (Jan. 7/8), Auburn (Jan. 11), Florida (Jan. 21/22), Mississippi State (Jan. 25), Texas A&M (Feb. 1) and Texas (Feb. 22). South Carolina has faced Texas just twice in its history with a home and home against the Longhorns in Bill Foster’s first two seasons as head coach. The Gamecocks beat Texas 74-70 on Dec. 23, 1980 at Carolina Coliseum and the Longhorns won the grudge match, 88-71, in Austin on Jan. 23, 1982.

Five of the team’s nine home games will take place on Saturdays with a trio of two-game homestands, two in January and one in March at the end of the regular season. The Gamecocks have home and home dates with Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State.

Season ticket information is available here and fans are encouraged to place deposits now. The renewal deadline for existing season ticket holders is Sept. 13. Seat selections will take place Sept. 30 thru Oct. 4.

Carolina’s road schedule is highlighted by trips to Oklahoma (Jan. 18), Kentucky (Feb. 8) and Tennessee (March 8). The trip to Norman will mark the Gamecocks third all-time and first since Dec. 10, 1992.

A record-tying 10 SEC teams received postseason bids in 2023-24. The SEC’s eight NCAA Tournament selections in 2024 tied its previous best mark set in 2018. The SEC has had 35 NCAA Tournament selections over the last five tournaments.

It was a historic 2023-24 season for South Carolina as head coach Lamont Paris and his staff helped orchestrate the greatest single-season turnaround in program history. South Carolina went 26-8 and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. The 26 victories tied the 2016-17 Final Four team for the most single-season wins in program history. Carolina’s 15-win improvement was tied for the second-best mark in the nation. The team’s 25 regular season wins were a new program record. The Gamecocks went 13-5 in SEC play, good for a T-2nd finish in the league. The 13 SEC wins tied the 1997 SEC title team for the most SEC wins in program history (Carolina joined the league in 1991-92).

In addition to winning SEC Coach of the Year from both the media and league’s 13 other coaches, Paris was one of four finalists for the 2024 Naismith National Coach of the Year, the first coach in program history to be tabbed a finalist for the prestigious award.

The Gamecocks return five key pieces from last season’s squad in guard Jacobi Wright, guard Zachary Davis, guard Myles Stute, guard Morris Ugusuk and forward Collin Murray-Boyles, who was an SEC All-Freshman selection a season ago. Three key transfers joined the team in the offseason in forward Nick Pringle (Alabama), forward Jordan Butler (Missouri) and guard Jamarii Thomas (Norfolk State). They are joined by talented four-star freshman Cam Scott, who is expected to be a vital cog in the team’s success again this season. Scott is a local product that played his prep hoops at Lexington High School.
