Reigning Champs Get 2024-25 SEC Schedule

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Reigning Nation and SEC Champion South Carolina women’s basketball locked in the details of its SEC schedule for the 2024-25 season, the league office announced today. The reigning league champion will open on the road and close at home heading into the 2025 SEC Tournament, which will be played in Greenville, S.C., for the third-straight season March 5-10.  South Carolina’s eight home games feature five NCAA Tournament teams, including both SEC newcomers – Texas and Oklahoma.

The SEC slate opens on Thu., Jan. 2, with the Gamecocks on the road at Missouri before they head to Mississippi State for a Sun., Jan. 5 tilt.

Texas A&M, an NCAA Tournament participant, opens South Carolina’s home SEC schedule, coming to Colonial Life Arena on Thu., Jan. 9. NCAA Elite 8 finisher Texas, which closed last season ranked #7/5 in the nation, makes its Colonial Life Arena debut on Sun., Jan. 12.

After a trip to NCAA Tournament second-round entry Alabama on Thu., Jan. 16, the Gamecocks are back at home for two more tough games. Coming off an NCAA second-round showing and final #21/20 ranking last season, Oklahoma returns to Colonial Life Arena for the first time in the Dawn Staley era for a Sun., Jan. 19, contest. LSU follows on Thu., Jan. 23, for a matchup of the last two National Champions.

South Carolina heads back to Tennessee this season for a Monday night showdown on Jan. 27. The Gamecocks close out their string of seven-straight games against NCAA Tournament opponents with a home game against Auburn on Sun., Feb. 2.

The Gamecocks’ next two games will be on the road, beginning in at border rival Georgia on Thu., Feb. 6, and their first trip to Texas since December 2016 for a game on Sun., Feb. 9.

A pair of home games sandwich South Carolina’s annual meeting against UConn (at home, Feb. 16) with NCAA Tournament participant Florida visiting on Thu., Feb. 13, and Arkansas closing out the three-game home stand on Thu., Feb. 20.

The final stretch of the regular season opens with back-to-back road trips to NCAA Tournament teams as the Gamecocks head to Ole Miss, which advanced to the second round, for a Sun., Feb. 23, game ahead of the final road game of the season at Vanderbilt on Thu., Feb. 27.

South Carolina closes out the regular season at home against Kentucky on Sun., Mar. 2, in a game that will include Senior Day celebrations.

The Gamecocks have won eight SEC regular-season titles over the last 11, including the last three, and have not been outside the top two in that stretch.  Head coach Dawn Staley is 199-55 in SEC play, including back-to-back undefeated seasons, with her .783 league winning percentage second only to Tennessee’s Pat Summitt (.874) in league history. Her 199 conference wins are the most among active league coaches and third all-time, trailing just Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductees Andy Landers (Georgia, 273) and Summitt (Tennessee, 306).

Tipoff times and TV designations for all games will be announced at a later time.
