Gamecocks Open 2024-25 Season at Southern Intercollegiates
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis will open the 15th season under head coach Josh Goffi at the Southern Intercollegiates Sept. 13-15. Seven Gamecocks will travel to Athens, Ga., for the tournament, which features four single and two doubles draws.
No. 118 Jelani Sarr and sophomore Sean Daryabiegi are in the Single Red Draw for the Gamecocks, which features eight ranked players. Sarr opens against UNC Wilmington’s Joseph Wayand, and Daryabeigi will face No. 14 Thomas Paulsell of Georgia.
Four Gamecocks are in the Singles Black Draw, including freshman and US Open Junior quarterfinalist Atakan Karahan, who is the four seed in the draw. Junior Lucas Andrade da Silva and freshmen Gave Avram and Max Stenzer are also in the draw. Freshman Cole Henceroth will play in the Singles Silver Draw.
In doubles, the Red Draw features five ranked duos and a pair of Gamecock tandems making their collegiate debuts. Sarr and Karahan team up to face Georgia Tech’s Gianluca Carlini and Nate Bonetto, while Stenzer and Daryabeigi will face No. 5 Maxwell Smith and Noa Vukadin of Clemson. The Doubles Black Draw has Henceroth and Avram slotted as the No. 2 seed with a first-round bye.
Play will begin Friday at 8 a.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Center with doubles playing in the indoor facility. Links to live video and scoring as well as each day’s results can be found at 2024 Southern Intercollegiates Tournament Central.
