Men’s Tennis Heads to ITA All-American Championships

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis will have six entries in the 2024 ITA All-American Championships set to begin on Sat., Sept. 20, in Tulsa, Okla., at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Senior Casey Hoole, who is ranked No. 45 in the nation, earned a spot in the singles main draw, while junior Lucas Andrade da Silva and sophomores Sean Daryabeigi and Jelani Sarr will try to work their way into the draw via prequalifying rounds.

Hoole is making his third appearance at the event after advancing to the consolation quarterfinals last season. When the main draw opens on Wed., Sept. 25, it will mark his 2024-25 season singles debut. He is also slated to play doubles with senior Connor Thomson as the nation’s No. 24 doubles team is on the list to start in qualifying rounds, which begin on Mon., Sept. 23.

The three Gamecocks in prequalifying will open play on Saturday after successful season starts at last weekend’s Southern Intercollegiates. No. 188 Sarr finished the tournament with a 2-1 record in the top singles draw, including a tight three-set win over No. 64 Miguel Perez Pena of Georgia on Sunday. Da Silva also came out of the event at 2-1 and will ride a two-match win streak into this weekend. Daryabeigi joined Sarr in the top singles draw at the Southern Intercollegiates, closing with a pair of straight-set wins, and he took the nation’s No 14 player to three sets in the opening-round loss.

Sarr and da Silva are also set to play doubles in the prequalifying rounds, The duo went 9-6 in doubles last season.

Under the new format for NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, players and doubles teams in the ITA All-American Championships can qualify right into the NCAA Championships bracket. From singles, eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists will punch their ticket directly into the NCAA Singles Championships. The four main draw doubles semifinalists will join them in the NCAA Doubles Championships.
