Katie Shea Collins Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Katie Shea Collins has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. The honor marks the third SEC award for Collins this year and the second consecutive Freshman of the Week nod.

Collins, a freshman forward from Gallatin, Tenn., has made her way into the starting lineup as a rookie to open SEC play, playing 70+ minutes in both matches. Collins has recorded at least one SOG in the last four consecutive games, and recorded points in half. Against the No. 20 Wildcats, Collins converted on her first career PK to put the Gamecocks up 1-0 where they remained for her fifth goal of the season. Her five goals are the second most on the team, along with her 11 points.

The two Freshman of the Week awards ties for the most in program history (previously Cat Barry, Mikayla Krzeczowski, and Savannah McCaskill).
